Comfy Crochet Slippers January 5, 2011

So when trying to decide what to knit/crochet for my sister for Christmas, I thought, what would be better than a comfy pair of slippers for her to wear around her dorm room. I was slightly disappointed with the pattern selections so I used a basic pattern and changed it till I liked it. The soles of the slippers are actually brown on the bottom but blue on the inside which I thought added a nice touch. I found this flower pattern and not only used it for these but used it for three other projects as well. I love the layering of the flower and that it can be two toned. I’m really happy with how these turned out and I must say they are rather comfortable.  Hopefully they will get some good use around the dorm at Auburn.

Altered Confusion Gaming gloves January 3, 2011

So when deciding what to knit my brother for Christmas I thought, what would be better than gloves he could wear while gaming! My brother is an avid video gamer and has his own game review/webcomic website called Altered Confusion. He is always wearing his Altered Confusion T-shirts around for advertising so I thought these gaming gloves could be a perfect addition. I was worried at first that the gloves would go to far down his fingers, but luckily he has super long fingers so they will not restrict game play. The colors of his website are red and white so that made color selection rather easy. These were relatively quick and easy, the hardest part was laying out the grid for the letters and knitting that into the pattern. But I’m happy with the way these turned out.

Julie’s Scarf January 2, 2011

For Christmas this year, everyone got hand knit/crochet gifts using up some of the yarn in my stash instead of buying up more, (which made Larry very happy). I found this pattern on ravelry and loved it! It is a short scarf that is made with a hidden loop to keep the scarf in place, (the loop is hidden behind the flower). It was a quick easy pattern and took hardly any time. I picked this color because I thought it would complement my sister-in-law well. Plus this yarn was rather bulky which I think worked really well for the pattern. She showed it off to her mom and sister and it looks like I’ve already got a couple orders already :) .
